Director of Institutional Relations Emilio Butragueño will receive the award in the Club's name at the World Football Gala held in London

The World Football Gala 2010 will take place tonight in London. Awards will be bestowed on the best clubs of the 20th Century from each continent. Real Madrid will receive the accolade for the Best European Club of the 20th Century. Director of Institutional Relations Emilio Butragueño and Real Madrid veteran Amancio Amaro will receive the award in the Club's name.
The IFFHS has determined the recipients for each award according to each club's results in continental games, earning points per victory and draw that vary depending on the category of each championship.
The former European Cup and current Champions League award the most points, 8 per victory and 4 per draw. Fairs Cup and UEFA Cup victories are worth 6 points, while draws are worth 3. Triumphs in the Cup Winners' Cup are worth 5 points and draws 2.5. Victories in the Mitropa and Latina Cups are rewarded with 4 points and draws with 2. European Super Cup wins are worth 6.5 points, while draws award 3.25.
Real Madrid is the unquestionable leader with 563.5 points, followed by Juventus (446) and Barcelona (458).
Other winners are Peñarol (Siuth America), Asante Kotoko (Africa), Al-Hilal (Asia), Saprissa (North and Central America) and South Melbourne (Oceania).
Iker Casillas will receive the Best Goalkeeper of 2009 award.
