The signing of Fernando Torres is not enough to satisfy me this summer. I fully appreciate that we have recruited other players of various abilities and ages but I still cannot help but think we need more signings of the calibre of Torres. I fear that many Reds will allow themselves to get caught up in the excitement of the multi-million pound purchase because they're not used to seeing us spend like this. Signing Fernando Torres isn't the sole answer to our problems, just like signing the excellent Dirk Kuyt wasn't last year. We need several highly-rated, proven stars that are available for deployment now. We should be able to spend a lot more on other players regardless of who owns the club so I won't fall for any of the finance bollocks. I do believe that there's plenty of activity taking place behind the scenes as I type this with talk of the Reds closing in on another "top signing". Hopefully Rafa will land a winger in the not too distant future to compliment the signing of Torres. There's also Gabriel Heinze of course. If a deal can be hammered out that sees him make the controversial switch to Anfield, it will be worth it for entertainment value alone for when we play the Mancs. What a way to rain on their parade. Craig Bellamy should be on his way soon. I'm a bit gutted about that to be honest as I like people with a bit of character. I get tired of all the nice guys in football so to have the odd maniac included every now and then makes a ing change. Peter Crouch should be safe which I'm really happy about. I must confess that I was gutted when we signed him, I thought it was a big mistake but I was wrong. He not only delivered the goods week in week out but he's reminded me that not all footballers are full of themselves. You couldn't meet a nicer lad and he fits into the Liverpool mould completely. It would appear that Gabriel Paletta will be moved on and there are suggestions that Riise will be culled next although I doubt the boss is in a rush to move him on so such a deal would have to be the right one for the boss to accept. Robbie Fowler says he's had no contract offers, that I find very hard to believe so I'm not sure what that's all about. I refuse to accept that nobody wants him. And what about Lil Luis? I'm sad to see him go. He was a star out in Athens when Big Ears (Steve) had a good natter with him as he and KopTalk member Mike Jefferies and other prawn sandwich munchers tucked into their exotic foods in the UEFA Village or whatever it was bloody called! He was a good servant to LFC but we can do better. Sorry, but he was too hit and miss for me. Another Smicer but a bit better. (That should get a few biting) Anyway, I urged all our members to keep the faith even when everyone was ripping their hair out over the lack of action earlier in the summer. I was confident we'd do well in the market and I still think we can, but to show real intent we must land another big fish. For me we need an improved supply for the attackers. I believe Rafa shares the same view. I'm really enjoying the summer but I can't wait to see the real football start again. The transfer season is entertaining but you can't beat the real stuff!
