Suwon Bluewings win Asian Super Cup
Suwon Samsung Bluewings pulled the last Asian Super Cup out of the fire after defeating Al Hilal 4-2 on penalties.
“For 120 minutes we were in control of the match,” said a dejected Francisco Maturana, coach of the Al Hilal side that completely dominated both regulation and golden goal extra time.
“We played very well in both the first and second half but we missed too many chances,” added the Columbian
The Korean side – who sent just 14 players for the second leg - were under the Hilal cosh for the majority of the match and only the heroics of World Cup keeper Lee Won-jae and some poor finishing prevented the trophy from remaining in Riyadh.
“It was a very difficult situation for Suwon as we also had to concentrate on a K-League match,” said a jubilant Wang Seon-jae who was coaching the side in the absence of Kim Ho.
Wanting to quickly cancel out Lee Ki-hyun’s first leg strike Al Hilal went on the offensive right from the start and came close to scoring after just three minutes.
Enterprising left back Mohammed Al Nazhan swung in a dangerous looking cross that was headed well wide by Columbian striker Ricardo Perez Tamayo.
After Hussain Al Ali had missed twice with headers in the space of 60 seconds, Tamayo finally got the goal that Hilal’s attacking play had deserved ten minutes from the interval.
Mohammed Al Shloob delivered the ball into the Suwon penalty area and the livewire midfielder’s cross was headed into the six-yard box by Bandar Al Mutairi. Tamayo showed why he has earned the nickname El Gato – the cat – when he pounced to head the ball into the net from close range.
With a minute before the break MVP Nawaf Al Temyat came close to doubling Hilal’s advantage when he unleashed a stunning 25-yard-shot which beat the flailing hand of Korea Republic’s World Cup keeper Lee Won-jae but not the King Fahd International Stadium crossbar.
The inspirational midfielder once again showed why he is Saudi Arabia’s hottest football property when, in the 58th minute, he left three Suwon players trailing in his wake and threaded a defence splitting pass to Tamayo who clipped the ball inches past the post.
Al Hilal’s dominance continued for most of the second half although the Koreans – who had Park K sent off from the bench – gave the home fans a few anxious moments when they forced a couple of corners in the closing minutes.
With both sides level on aggregate the match went into golden goal extra time and thing swing further in favour of the home side Cho Sung-hwan needlessly tripped Tamayo in full view of the assistant referee to earn his second yellow card.
From the resulting free-kick Hilal captain Abdullah Zubromawi headed against the post and Tamayo, who had earlier forced a world class save from the Suwon custodian, ballooned the rebound over the bar.
Despite incessant pressure Hilal couldn’t find the breakthrough and the era-ending final went right down to the wire.
Veteran forward Youssuf Al Thunaiyan stepped up first but sent his spot-kick wide of the right hand post. After Jung Yong-hoon converted for Suwon, Lee saved well from Bandar Al Mutairi’s effort to give the Korean’s the edge. Cho Hyun-doo, Tamayo, Son Seng-jun and Al Temyat all held their nerve to score before Son Dae-ho wrote his name in the history books when netted the winning penalty.

وقال ماتورنا بحزن ((كنا مصيطرين ل120 دقيقة واتبعوا اللاعبين التعليمات تماما ولكننا اضعنا الكثير من الفرص))
الجانب الكوري الذي ارسل فقط 14 لاعبا للاياب كان تحت هرواة الهلال طوال المباراة لولا ابداع حارس مرمى المنتخب الكوري وسامسسونق وبعض سوء الحظ من جانب الهلاليين منع الكأس من البقاء في الرياض.
وقد كانت المباراة سيطرة هلاليية فقد اضاع حسين العلي ضربي رأس خلال 60 ثانية كما قام اللاعب محمد النزهان بمجهود جيد طوال المباراة.
وفي الدقيقة 35 استطاع ريكاردو بيراز الكاتو(الملقب بالقطة((والله مهب قطة الا بقرة)) من ادخال الهدف الاول للهلال من ضربة رأس قريبة جدا من المرمى.
وقد اثبت لاعب الوسط الهلالي التمياط مهراته الفائقة عندما سدد كرة من 25 ياردة لتصطدم بالعارضة
وعلى الرغم من الضغط الهلالي طوال الشوط الثاني الا انهم عجزوا عن احراز هدف لتلجأ المباراة لاشواط اضافية كانت باردة جدا وخالية من اي هجمات مهمة
ثم احتكم الفريقان لضربات الجزاء وتقدم المخضرم يوسف الثنيان لكنها اضاع ضربة الجزاء الاولى ويحرز اللاعب الكوري هدفهم الاول ويضيع المطيري ضربة الجزاء الثانية ويحرز سامسونق الهف الثاني ويسدد الكاتو من الهلال ويحرزها ويحرز لاعب سامسونق ويسجل التمياط تسديدة رائعة.ويسجل سامسونق الضربة القاضيية التي انهت المباراة.
