read whatever u like..for example read the sport news or short stories
the headlines or if u like movies read the original story of the film.
...
about my accent..i studid with british instructor so i love british accent.
but i guess the american accent is easier.
watch the movies with eng subtitle to improve ur speaking skills

For me the best way to learn English is by movies and try to talk English at home with your friends

well reading is not an effective way to every one...
but movies with arabic sub is a good thing to start with
and then the most importent skills will be great (listining - speaking )
and about reading and writing school will take care of that,,,
