According to the latest reports emanating from Brazil, Thiago Neves is becoming increasingly disenchanted with life at Hamburger SV and is angling for a return to his homeland.
The 23-year-old arrived in the summer with a reputation as a highly promising playmaker and was earmarked as the long-term successor to Rafael van der Vaart.
HSV boss Martin Jol has chosen to ease in the young Selecao star very slowly, however, with just two Bundesliga starts to his credit in his first six months in Germany.
The Brazilian media have reported that Neves is in talks to return to Fluminense, and a recent quote attributed to the player's mother in globoesporte.com has given credence to these rumours.
"I don't know any exact details about negotiations but Thiago will be in Rio on Wednesday," Eliane Neves was quoted as saying.
Fluminense sports director Alexandre Faria admitted the interest is there, but denied that any negotiations have taken place.
According to one report in Bild, Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal are planning to offer €7 million for Neves with the intent of first loaning him to Fluminese.

The 23-year-old Brazilian arrived in the summer with a reputation as a highly promising playmaker and was earmarked as the long-term successor to Rafael van der Vaart, but has been used very sparingly by HSV boss Martin Jol.
Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal are reportedly looking to buy Neves with the intent of first loaning him to his ex side Fluminense, but his German team are evidently not overly keen on the idea.
"The Saudi club have already accepted," his agent Leo Rabello said to SporTV. "We are finding some resistance from Hamburg.
"I think it's a political problem, something like fearing the player would rediscover his form in Brazil.
"If the player goes back to Brazil, we are sure he will recover his form."
Neves has just two Bundesliga appearances under his cap from his first six
